Welcome to a new episode of the new LMSL Rantcast…only joking!

All kidding aside, there’s a lot to discuss on the new LMSL Podcast, and Matthew and Ross get together to talk about former England defender Sol Campbell’s departure from Coca-Cola Football League Two side Notts County after his first game in what was meant to be a five-year stay at Meadow Lane. The boys also talk about the goings-on this week in the CIS Cup in Scotland and the Carling Cup in England, and Ross vents about the recently-sacked Davie Irons and what happens now at Ross’s beloved club, Greenock Morton.

Later on in the show, Kartik Krishnaiyer from The Kartik Report (a fellow Own Goal Network affiliate) and Major League Soccer Talk joins us to discuss the state of the United States’s men’s national team as well as American players plying their trade in Europe. Our listeners in the U.K. and elsewhere besides the U.S. will be particularly interested in hearing what Kartik has to say about what’s going on with the American national team as well as U.S. Soccer in general. Ever wonder what kind of things have been holding the Americans back in the world of football? Kartik knows, and he’ll tell you here on the LMSL Podcast.

Finally on this episode of the Podcast, we’ll give you a little teaser on a reader/listener competition we have coming up. We won’t give too much away here, but keep an eye out for details on the blog over the weekend, and we’ll also give you some more information about the competition on the next episode of the Podcast.

As always, you can reach us with your questions and comments via email at matthew.lmsl@gmail.com or ross.lmsl@gmail.com, or you can leave your messages in the comments areas of the LMSL blog at www.lasminsecleg.com. You can also follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/lasminsecleg), and we’d love to have you join our Facebook group, too - Simply log onto Facebook and search ‘Last Minute, Second Leg’.

We’ve changed things up a bit for this third episode of the LMSL Podcast, with co-founders Matthew Semisch and Ross Andrew Gallacher co-hosting the show. They’re joined for Part 1 of the podcast by Kevin Walker, head of the Own Goal Network, a football blog community that has recently taken LMSL under its wing. Here, Kevin gives you, the listener, a little information on OGN, and both he and the hosts discuss the week’s extremely important FIFA World Cup qualification matches in Europe and North South America.

This edition of the podcast features an interview conducted this week by Matthew with Stephen Rea, author of Finn McCool’s Football Club: The Birth, Death and Resurrection of a Pub Soccer Team in the City of the Dead, a review of which you can find at our website, lasminsecleg.com. In the interview, Rea discusses his upbringing in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as well as the differences between life and the footballing cultures in Belfast and Rea’s current hometown of New Orleans, how the Finn McCool’s pub football team was formed, what life was like for FMFC’s players and their families before, during and after Hurricane Katrina, and much more.

Finally, Matthew and Ross give you a sneak preview of what you can expect next time, but you’ll have to listen to find out exactly what that is. In the meantime, don’t forget to send your questions and comments to matthew.lmsl@gmail.com and ross.lmsl@gmail.com, our website, or our Twitter page (twitter.com/lasminsecleg).
